An international awards body, which recognises excellence in tourism, has crowned the Vale Resort as Wales’s Best Golf Hotel for the fifth year in a row.
The World Golf Awards were held at Park Hyatt in Dubai, bringing together pioneers, influencers, and leading figureheads from across the world.
Professionals working within each industry - senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents, and media - and members of the public, all have the chance to vote for their winners.
The Vale Resort once again fought off stiff competition from The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport and Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel and Spa at the eighth annual World Golf Awards.
Stephanie Metson, marketing manager at the Vale Resort, said: “Although it’s been an unusual golf season, with Covid-19 restrictions swapping and changing, the fact that we have retained this coveted title not only highlights our impressive championship courses but also our customer service, which is second-to-none.
“To meet the high standards of the World Travel Awards and be recognised for another year is hugely rewarding. The competition is always fierce so scooping this award is testimony to the first-class service golfers can expect.
“Our staff always work tirelessly– even more so during the pandemic - and this award is a huge testament to their unstinting commitment to going the extra mile in everything they do.” The Vale Resort’s two championship golf courses have been host to a number of PGA and European golf tournaments over the years.
The Wales National, at 7,433 yards off the championship tees, is one of the longest courses outside America. The Lake course, slightly shorter at 6,436 yards, is just as challenging, and aptly named with water coming into play on 12 of its holes.
Ms Metson added: “If playing on one of our championship courses wasn’t enough, our new gin distillery, located in the cellars of Hensol Castle, is now open. This means golfers can add a little something extra to their visit, including a tour of the distillery with tastings and even the chance to distil their own bottle of gin in our gin school.”
The Vale Resort also retained its title of Wales’s Best Resort Spa 2021 for the fifth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards.
