Staff Spotlight: Our Revenue and Yield Supervisor, Jack

Jack is our incredibly funny Revenue and Yield Supervisor. Jack handles our rates and availability and has been with the company for 5 years. Now we think it’s time we think you get to know him better.

 

How did you get into this career and how long have you been in the industry?

I first started my career in the hospitality industry 5 years ago as a Reservations Agent at the Vale Resort. Before this I had 5 years experience in the Retail industry, working in stores such as Peacocks and Armani Exchange. As much as I loved being on the shop floor and meeting new people every day, it was always an interest of mine to delve into the world of Hospitality.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the people I work with every day. As a wise colleague once told me… “Teamwork makes the dream work!”. I work with some amazing people that make me laugh every day and are also really hard working. I love that we all have our part to play with making guest experiences the best we possibly can while enjoying what we do at the same time.

What does your typical day look like?

I start every day with a Nescafe Azera Americano coffee (I can’t function without it). Then typically I go through all our bedroom and Spa availability and change rates on our website and with agencies we use to reflect this. Every week I produce a Business on the Books report, which details exactly how many rooms and how much revenue the resort has picked up that week for the next 3 months. This is really important as it shows us how close we are to hitting monthly budgets and if we need to create promotional offers to increase sales throughout the Resort.

What do you do in your free time?

In my spare time, I really enjoy shopping for new animal figurines to display in my house! At the moment I have 2 elephants, a giraffe, zebra and cat. I also have a very large black panther that has his own podium in my living room. His name is, Justice. I’m also a bit of a plant fanatic – I have 8 plants in my living room alone including a Pachira Aquatica (money tree), his name is Cameron. My partner and I also spend a lot of time with our cat Molly, she is the most loving little animal and has made us into a little family.

 

 

Name one dead celebrity that you would like to have dinner with

If I was able to have dinner with a passed celebrity I think I would choose Stan Lee (co-creator of Marvel comics). I grew up watching all kinds of Superhero movies (Spiderman being my favourite), all based on his comics. I just feel like he would have a lot of interesting anecdotes to tell from his past experiences and also how it felt being part of the process seeing his comic creations come to life on the big screen.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what do you hope to achieve at the Vale Resort?

I’ve only been at the Resort for 5 years and I’ve already accomplished and progressed so much within my role. I am a hard worker and put my all into making a good impression - I’m excited to see where the next 5 years take me.
